THE GRUMPY BAKER

The Grumpy Baker is born out of a lifetime in the New Zealand baking industry. Owner, Brent Huges was first introduced to baking as a baby, in his parents Hawkes Bay bakery. Over the next 40+ years he has been involved in baking in many different roles and businesses, always coming back to his passion of making high quality, European inspired products with a New Zealand twist.

The Grumpy Baker is committed to continuing the craft of baking and training apprentices to ensure these skills are kept alive.

Their products are made using high quality ingredients including Belgian chocolate and locally sourced meats.  Their breads are all made using a traditional long fermentation process, naturally reducing the sugar and gluten content of the finished product.
